This trekking route is in the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalayas and starts from Kalyani at 4000 ft above sea-level. The route passes through dense forests.
Dodital, a natural lake at an altitude of 10200 ft, is the source of Oshi-Ganga, a tributary of the Ganga. From Dodital a steep trail leads to Darwa Top which is at an altitude of 14000 ft. From Darwa Top, the trail descends to Yamunotri via Hanuman Chati.
The trek upto Dodital and back to Uttarkashi is quite easy and can be undertaken by families including the young and elderly.
A suitable time to trek in this region is between May to June and mid-September to mid-November.
Typical Schedule (we can customize it):
Day 1 : Arrive at Delhi. Overnight stay in hotel.
Day 2 : Delhi – Hardwar - Uttarkashi : We travel to Hardwar by car/train that takes about four hours. From there we travel to Uttarkashi by car which takes about 5 hours. Overnight stay at hotel in Uttarkashi.
Day 3 : Uttarkashi - Bheora : We travel to Kalyani by car in the morning. From there we trek to Bheora. Overnight in tents/trekker's hut in Bheora.
Day 4 : Bheora – Dodital : Today we trek to Dodital. We stay overnight in tents/trekker's hut.
Day 5 : At Dodital : We stay for an extra day at Dodital.
Day 6 : Dodital – Seema Bugiyal : Today we trek to Darwa top and camp at Seema Bugiyal. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 7 : Seema Bugiyal - Janaki Chatti : We trek to Hanuman Chatti from where we travel by car to Janaki Chatti. We stay overnight at the hotel in Janaki Chatti.
Day 8 : Janaki Chatti - Hardwar: We start early for Hardwar by car and reach our destination by evening. Overnight stay at the hotel in Hardwar.
Day 9 : Hardwar – Delhi : We travel to Delhi by car/train and the cover the distance in about 4 1/2 hours. Tour concludes here.
